2012 Resolutions

I know. I disappeared for almost 10months because that is the age of my daughter now.

I'm back to set some NY resolutions~ Here goes~

1) To spend more time with Mabel playing, bonding or 'flash-carding'(which I think really works to stimulate her brains!)

2) To bring Mabel to my mum's place more often so that she can bond with my parents who only gets to see her once a week.

3) To pick up Yoga again and exercise at least once a week.

4) Bring Mabel for a swim once a month.

5) To have chill out sessions with friends once a week.

6) To go for movie/dinner dates with my hubby once a month.

7) To watch the 2012 Euro Cup as I have totally lost touch with BPL.

8) To have some savings in my bank account.

Ok, I hope I will be able to keep at least half of them~

Arrival of Princess Mabel

Princess Mabel arrived on 13th March 2011, yup, our wedding anniversary! She really knows when to pop! haha~

I was watching soccer till 3am in the morning and was trying to sleep. At around 4plus am, i started to has menstrual-like cramps. I tried to ignore them but couldn't get back to sleep. So i decided to go sit on the sofa and see if the cramps will go away but nope.

So I started to time the frequency of the cramps. They were coming every 5 mins and lasting for 30 seconds. I remember reading online about going to the hospital when the contractions are 5 mins apart.. So I started thinking... is it time already?

I decided to lay down and see if the cramps will die down because I was suspecting that they were just braxton hicks contractions. But by 7am, the cramps were still coming every 5 mins. Ok.. i think its time already...

So i went to shower, pack my stuff and then woke my hubby up at about 7.30am. Was hungry and so I ate a slice of bread and then proceeded to the hospital.

Checked into the hospital, was strapped to the monitor and the nurse confirmed that I was having contractions. But I was still in very early labour. So the nurse called the anesthetist and my gynea down. The anesthetist arrived first and hooked me onto epidural.

Then the gynae arrived and decided to break my water bag to try speeding up the process. She broke the water bag and immediately said... c-sect... faintz~ My princess couldn't wait and decided to poop in my tummy! The water was green! so in the end, I had to go through an emergency c-section.

Was worried when I found out that I was to go through a c-section because I was totally unprepared. I cried because I felt so helpless. The nurses were very nice and they kept comforting me by telling me that its very common.

So by 9.45am, I was in the operating theatre, still awake with my lower body numbed. Hubby was not allowed to accompany me because it was an emergency. So I was along, lying on the operating table. Many many thoughts were going through my mind! I was super nervous because I did not know what to expect!

Gynae came in... started her stuff and I was listening to their whole conversation. They were talking about the japan earthquake and that my gynae was planning to tour Tokyo and she has to change her plans..blah blah blah... and 10mins in... she told the anesthetist that she's ready and then the anesthetist started to press super hard on my tummy! I got the biggest shock of my life! I had no idea that was coming!

Next moment, I heard my princess crying... I did not feel anything as I was still very shocked from the 'pushing tummy' ordeal! Then she was brought to another room where hubby said a tube was inserted into her mouth and nose to suck out the green poopy water... poor girl~

After they cleaned her up, the nurse brought her to my face and I remember smiling at her~

Then came the funny part! While the gynae was clearing and stitching me up, I could feel pain and I started jerking my legs. The anesthetist then asked if I would want to sleep for awhile. I replied yes. He then put some kind mask over my mouth and nose and asked me to take deep breaths.. And within secs, I knocked out! I fell into really really deep sleep and when I woke up, I felt like I slept for hours but it was only 5 mins! The gynae was still going her job and then I started jerking again! Then the anesthetist asked me if I wanted to sleep for awhile more! hahaha! I guess he took away the mask too early. So once again, I fell into deep sleep. And the next moment, I woke up in the recovering room. And for the next 10-15mins, I was drifting in and out of consciousness.

I was then pushed to my ward and hubby was waiting there already. I remember the first question I asked him was... "baby got alot of hair??' haha~ then he said.. alright only. And the next question was... " baby got double eye-lids?" and he said yes! haha... was super happy!

And that marks the start of my motherhood!~

No inspiration to blog recently. Therefore, I have resorted to Formspring where they would ask random questions.

QN: When was the last time you received flowers?

Hmm.. that is a hard one. My wedding day? If that even counts haha~

Throughout my almost 30 years of living, I hardly received flowers. Off hand, I can only recall like... 4 occasions.

First was a shocker~ I was in secondary three. There was this boy in my class who liked me. I think we were having some kinda supplementary classes and therefore had to stay back later in school. So he passed me a note to meet him behind our school block at a certain time. I went eventhough I knew something fishy was going on.

He was already there when I arrived. Holding a bouquet of... I think white lilies. And he actually went down on one of his knees and asked me to be his gf. Sadly, I had to reject him because I felt nothing for him. And after tat, I just turned around and walked away. That was my first bouquet of flowers.

Second was from my ex. I decided to dump him and he wanted me back and so the flowers came about. Thats all I can remember.

Third was probably a birthday present from one of my ex. Sunfowers mostly.

And fourth would be the one I had for my wedding day. I don't remember my hubby giving me flowers at all and I am actually quite fine about it because I am not a flower person.

But deep down inside, I am still a girl who would be delighted to receive flowers once in a blue moon~ haha~

I'm involved in a singing competition again. This time held by City Square and Youthbox.

First round was acapella~ me and doug went but I was the only who got to the quarters. I guess age plays a big part now cos the other contestant were like in their teens only! We are almost 15-20 years older then the rest! I really feel old man~!

Anyway, i still went for the quarters. Decided to sing 'Ke xi bu shi ni' which i did well for another competition. But i did badly for the song! haha.. I wasnt surprised cos I didnt really prepare myself for the comp as I was recovering from a bad flu.

A few days after, i received an sms and was told that I'm through to the Semis~ I totally didnt expect it! haha.. well.. not wanting to do badly this time, I have chosen an A-lin song which I should be able to perform well.

Hope I'll do well for the coming semis this sunday~ I hope i'll be able to go through to the finals and win something out of it!

Singing has been my biggest love since young.

My mom used to teach me children songs and my most vivid one was 天下的妈妈都是一样的. She would get me to 'perform' in front of relatives and friends where I would get claps and praises for. I was her little singing star. And since then, I love performing.

My Grandpa was an active member of the RC and he once took me to a lantern festival outing with other children from the neighbourhood. The microphone was passed to me and I started singing a NDP song and the rest of the children sang along with me. That was my first time 'performing' in public.

My Dad loves singing and he first installed the home-style karaoke when I was in primary school. They used to come in the form of VCR tapes. My dad would record all my favourite songs into 1 single tape and I would sing from the 1st song to the last.

Then came the time where KTVs started running. There were no rooms at that time and we would all take turns to sing in the hall. My dad would only bring me and not my mum and sis because I would sing but they won't. I do remember myself singing to the latest hit songs like 大约在冬季, 一场游戏一场梦.

I was in the Choir during primary school. I also remember performing a chinese duet with a good friend during Children's day celebration. That was my first time where I actually volunteered to perform.

I was also in the choir during secondary school but I was not as active as compared to primary school. My school did hold singing competitions but I didn't have the courage to register myself.

My very first singing competition was at Ngee Ann Poly and I actually made it to the finals. After many years of not performing, I was very nervous at the finals. As expected, I didnt get into the tops.

During poly time, my sis got to know Douglas and that was when I started to go KTV with them. Douglas was the one who signed me up for my first public competition. It was a huge contest held at Chinatown point.

After that, we started to go for MuChuan's annual competition. That was when I started to gain more experience in performing.

Next came one of the biggest highlight which was the Project Superstar. I went through 2 rounds to be one of the Top 50 girls but failed to qualify for the TV stage.

After that came Be A Star competition, it took me 3 years to finally qualify for the finals which were held in Genting. I had the chance to perform at Heeren and Suntec too! Those were the most enjoyable moments of my 'singing' life.

Then Harkcafe came around and I joined the competition there too. I was also given some chances to do 1-hour performances with Douglas. That was my first time being paid for performing.

Through that competition, I got to know people from LWSSOM where I got a chance to perform at some neighbourhood malls. This is the 2nd time where I was paid for performing.

Then came my proudest moment where I joined the RED SUN competition. I came in 3rd and won $1000 cash and a massage chair from it! I remember myself being really really happy as it was the first time where I actually won cash from a competition~!

Nowadays, I still look out for competition to join once in awhile. But its getting rather difficult as I am considered old already. There are kids as young as 15 or 16 who are so much more talented than me.

But still, I will join these competitions for the chance to perform. Don't ask me when will I stop joining because I can never say. Who knows I may be appearing in some senior-citizens competition when I am of that age~!

After typing this post, I really wanna thank all who have helped in nurturing my love of singing.

Just caught Show Luo's concert and I defintely enjoyed!

Was thrilled when I received Nic's call this afternoon. He called and said that he had an extra ticket! Immediately, I said YES!!! I WAN TO GO~ haha and the whole afternoon I was super happy...

Back to his concert... He really is a superb performer. His dance moves are superb. I was sitting way on the top and people around me were not as excited as me. There were some songs that I wanted to stand up and cheered but I was too afraid that I would be asked to sit down~ haha so I could only clap and sway my body abit haha

He was super humourous too~ which is exactly what I like about him. Only 30mins into his concert and I was falling in love with him already... hehe sorry ah bui...

But the concert was kinda short, only 2 hours. Would have been better if he could just extend it for another 30mins or so.

I will definitely buy my own ticket for his next concert, if there is any lah~ haha

Finally, some excitement in my life!

Ok, Supporters, I need your support!

Douglas and me are in the finals for 88.3jiaFM 3rd birthday bash Duet Competition. We are up against some very strong competitors so it would be worth coming down to watch the final showdown.

Its 27th March, 7pm at Dragonfly.

Best thing is... ADMISSION IS FREE FOR ALL SUPPORTERS! Just go to the 'supporters' booth and tell them that you are supporting us, TEAM 6 and you'll get in for free! But I think its first come first serve before the club gets too crowded! So be early! Come early, we drink with you! Don't worry hahahahaha

I heard that contestants will get free flow of drinks. Who knows I might be able to slip some drinks to you too!

Hope to see you guys there! Let me know if you're coming so we 'o-ta-lah' together!

Taipei Day 2

Day 2:

We went to Taipei zoo~ Cos we wanted to see the pandas and the gorillas~

Managed to see the pandas, Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan, closed-up~ Cant see this in mandai zoo leh~ Or cos have to go catch a glimpse of them no matter what...

Next we proceeded to the Gorilla enclosure~ It was 12noon and the sun was killing. We had to walk 15mins, without shade, before we reached. And the bloody Gorillas were hiding in the 'caves'~~~!!! Wah piang!

There was one awake and saw us but did not bother to get out of his shady caves. And guess what Matt did?? He pounded his chest and the Gorilla actually walked out of his hiding place. It almost felt like he was threatened! haha so the gorilla walked over.. and sat in front of us with his back facing us~

Then Wenqi said: "The Gorilla so rude hor???" hahahahahahahaha~

After Zoo, we went to try their favourite Pork chop & Chicken Drumstick rice~

Not fantastic but the portion was value for money~ (It was a full drumstick but I only remember to take pic of it halfway through eating haha) It was only $4.50 for a whole drumstick~ no way you can get this in Singapore~

After that, we went back to the hotel to rest. While waiting for dinner time, we decided to go to the Aquarium street in Taipei. Well, Matt wanted to go there lah~ So I had to tag along while the rest went shopping in Ximending again.

Our dear friend, Jianhua, bought me 'Tian Zhong Jia' cream puffs cos I did mentioned to him during lunch.

Forgot to take pic of the cream puffs. Haha... Always forget to take pic cos too eager to eat. It at least 3 times the size of normal cream puffs and comes in alot of flavours. He bought 4 and I had them for breakfast everyday! Can't say that they are fantastic but good enough for my liking.

So back to fish... went to a few shops but Matt couldnt find anything of his liking. I saw a shop selling baby sharks! Cool man! But can't bring them back to Singapore...

Next we had 'Kuai Chao' for dinner. Its something like 'Zi Char' in Singapore but they serve in small portions and they all go well with Beer. Doug! You will like this hahaha

As usual, forgot to take pic again.. Only managed to take photos of the empty plates. haha

After dinner, we went for dessert~ No mango ice cos all the mango farms were destryed by the typhoon.. So sad! had yam ice instead.

I'm not a huge fan of yam, but still I did enjoy the dessert. Especially the yam and sweet potato balls~

How can we not ktv in the land of Singers! hahaha... went to partyworld. A huge one~! It was 8 storeys high and all owned by partyworld!!!! Crazy!

All rooms came with en-suite bathrooms. But they had a funny rule whereby kids below 18 were to leave the premises by 11.45pm. Crazy~ So poor wenqi had to be brought back by her parents earlier. While Matt and me continued on with Jianhua and his gf. Wasnt too impressed with the ktv. I still think that our local partyworld are better. In terms of song choices, prices (taipei ktv is super ex~) and the rooms.

Taipei Day 1

I'm back from Taipei and I'm definitely missing the food~ It was shopping and food and nothing much besides that hahaha~ I think I'm at least 3 kgs heavier!!!

Let's have a recap of what we ate and did!

Day 1:
We reached Taipei at around 1pm and by the time we checked into our hotel rooms, it was already 3pm. Was starving and so we decided to try out the nearby Beef noodles recommended by sis-in-law's colleague.

First meal in Taipei... And I must say the beef in taipei is superb~ yummy!

And immediately after that, I had this~~~ Ah Zhong Mian Xian~

Was looking forward to it before the trip and I must say that I'm not disappointed at all~ It was yummy! And I had a pleasant surprise cos I've always thought it was oyster mian xian but instead, it came with pig's intestine and I happened to love that as well!

Next we shopped around in Ximending and proceed to East District for steamboat buffet~ Yummy and I cant remember how much beef I had! Best thing was the dessert! They served Haagen Daaz ice-cream! Free flow! Can you believe it!

Forgot to take picture cos was too busy eating. The restaurant name is 'Man3 Tang2 Hong2'. Those going to Taipei should try this. I was told that alot of celebrities go there too! And indeed! I saw Guo Ping Chao.... but don't really fancy him lah~ haha

I was on my way walking towards LWSSOM to meet up with Ashley for dinner and guess who I saw?!?!

Stephanie Sun!!!

Couldn't believe at first. Thought it might be someone who looks like her. I walk past her, smiled and she smiled back!! Haha super happy!

Went into LWSSOM and asked Ashley if it was really her but he didn't know. So while waiting for him to get ready, I went out to see if she was still there. But, nope she wasn't.

Went back in, Ashley still not ready. So went out again and saw Stephanie chatting with Sisong. Confirmed her liao lor!

Then she walked into the school's studio. While still waiting for Ashley, I could hear her singing! Must be her new song! Nice!

Ashley kept asking if I wanted to go take a photo with her but I shy leh. Am contented with the smile.

Can't wait for her new album but I guess it won't be soon cos Ashley says she's still choosing songs.

Doug was invited to perform for a SOKA event. He decided to ask me along so that we can sing a duet. We've been singing together in ktvs for years but this is our first time performing together.

Was rather relax but kinda sleepy cos we were there at 9am~ Crazy~ Imagine us drinking beer to warm up our vocals at 10am!!! haha... steady pom pi pi~

The performance went well given that we didnt rehearse much.. or should I say.. we only rehearse once~ haha... I must say that the chemistry between us are very very strong liao~ no need to practice lah~ hahaha yaya papaya~

Just came back from the MillionStar Pk Challenge Finals. Legs are aching after standing for 4hrs~ Super tired man!

Was blown away by Aijia's 2nd performance especially when she's only 15!!! Super impressed! She definitely deserved to go represent us in Taiwan. I hope she'll be able to go far from there.

The first time I met her was at LWSSOM. We were there for rehearsals for a HDB event. That was early last year. She was singing 'Colours of the Wind' and I was already impressed at her vocals then. But today was a WOW~

Diya and Zhiyang both are joining Aijia to PK in taiwan. Diya is very confident and comfortable on stage while Zhiyang has really beautiful vocals. They should be able to do well in Taiwan.. I hope~

There's only 3 gals out of a total 12 in the finals~ I just wish to be the best among the gals~

My semis is on sat~ yippee~ no need to take leave liao~

I suddenly remembered why I was so happy with my performance last week. I set a goal for myself and I achieved it~ Thats why~

I told myself (and WC too~) that if I am able to have everyone's eyes fixed on me instead of the tv while I'm performing, then it would be a great and successful performance. And I did it~ Well... not sure how true lah but at least the MC said so~

Anyway, no one has told me exactly what are my strengths in singing. The most common comment that I get from judges are '你唱歌让人觉得很舒服' and thats about it.

But I want to hear more leh~ don't always say the same thing la~ Say something to help me improve??

Finally, some excitement in my life. Joined a competition, went through audtions and quarters. Now going into semis.

But the dumb dumb semis will be on 29th & 30th May~ afternoon 2pm~ Siao boh?
29th is friday leh~ 2pm?? then got to take leave? wah piang~ cannot believe this.

Pray hard I kena saturday one~

And the worst thing is, the FINALS will be on 2nd June TUESDAY LOR~ haha..
If I really get into finals, got to take leave again~ SIAO BOH??

Anyway, see how first lah.. get into finals then decide.

Anyway, now it comes down to songs selection. I've got to submit songs for both semis and finals.

Do I want to do well and sing something that I've sang duno how many hundred times?

Or do I want to just enjoy and sing something that I've just mastered and wanna perform only?

Decisions... and I hate making them...

Been really lazy to blog or maybe its because there's nothing to blog also lah.

The wedding was a blast~ Cant help but be super impressed at myself for planning the entire thing and my timings were spot on! Thanks to all who attended and definitely to those who helped. Really appreciate you all.

The inspiration to blog today came from some events happening in the office. Lots of office politics, no.. shud be department politics. New head come, old head go. New staff outcasted by old staff. Yup, I'm one of the newbie but i'm glad there are more and more newbies like me coming into the picture.

But recently alot of turnovers in the department. The Head is 'banging into the wall' because of all these people. Hope everything turns out fine.

In the mean time, I'm just going to do my part of the job and leave the politics behind me~

Hello?? Am i the only one getting married??

I sourced and ordered the bedframe.
I went down myself to talk to the wedding card printer.
I went down myself to collect the wedding cards.
I bought the stamps.
I wrote all the invitation cards for your friendS.
I sent them all out.
I alone meet up with my own friends to pass them the invitation cards.
I had to ask your sister to contact your little niece and nephews to be my page boy and flower girls.
I had to go ask around to find flower baskets and ring pillows.
I had to ask your sister to contact your auntie for the church deco.
I went online to find the template of the mass booklet.
I went to meet your cousin myself to ask for her advise on the mass booklets.
I typed the mass booklet myself.
I went down to the printer and check the price. You said too ex.
I went down to Bras basah to check prices. Then you say printer cheaper.
I called the printer to get all the details.
I amended the template to the correct size and mail it back to the printer.
I presume I will going down to collect the booklets myself too.

I only want a simple rehearsal at the church. That's all. Is it so difficult?
You keep saying its very standard.
BUT I HAVE NEVER ATTENDED A CHURCH WEDDING IN MY WHOLE LIFE??
WHAT IS STANDARD?????

Called the invitation card printers at Excelsior this afternoon and asked for Connie. She is highly recommended in the singaporebrides.com forum for her excellent service. She told me that she was the only one working that day so she asked me to go down earlier. But the lazy me decided to laze around till later afternoon. By the time I reached, it was already 5pm. To my surprise, there was already 2 more customers there~ 1 was being served and the other one waiting for her turn. So I decided to walk around and went back in 15mins later. By the time i got back, there was another couple waiting at the door~ Don't understand why everyone have to go at the same time~

So after serving the 2 customers before me, this couple thought i was there later and cut my queue~ So i was like... okay lah, anyway i'm not rushing for time~ Connie kept apologising.. poor woman haha

So finally my turn came, I decided to choose the simplest form of printing. There were fanciful cards with ribbons, but the thought of having to tie them myself made me drop the design. Then it was between printing on the card directly or printing on another piece of paper then sticking it onto the card. The difference in cost was only $10~ And by paying the extra $10, i do not have to paste 350 pieces of paper on the 350 cards~
Of cos, I chose to pay lah~ Dont have time for this kind of arts and crafts.

So I paid the deposit and got the receipt~ OMG, the numbers were exactly the same 4 numbers as matt's grandma's new 'address' - 6287 ! Though my number was in random order - 6782 but i wouldnt have gotten it if that couple didnt cut my queue~!!

And i didnt realise this until i was chatting with my mom 2 days later~ which was friday! So I immediately smsed matt to buy 4D. and guess what~

WE STRIKE 4D YESTERDAY~ FIRST PRIZE HOR~

Went down to the hotel to pay deposit and got all the details i need to prepare. Eg, choice of food, food tasting date, invitation cards printing company.

Next most important thing is the invitation cards. I need to get them printed by 21st Feb coz my mum will be going into Malaysia to pass the invitation cards to my relatives there. So I have less than a month to get everything printed! ARGH~ HELP~

I've confirmed my sisters entourage and I'm happy~ There will be 8 sisters and brothers if nothing goes wrong~

I'm still working on my guest list. Its more or less done on my side. Just having some headaches with my ex-colleagues list~ Hope I can work it out soonz~

Today, me and matt went down to Orchard hotel to discuss our wedding package with the planner. Its lucky that their ballroom are available when Grand Copthorne's was not.

Orchard Hotel was our first choice actually but their ballrooms were not available on 26th dec.

So when I first knew that my wedding date has been changed, I called Grand Copthorne but their ballroom was not available. The next hotel in my mind was Orchard Hotel and I'm so glad that theirs were available.

I also like this wedding planner than that of Grand copthorne. She is much more friendly and easier to talk to. Anyway, we will need to go back down on wednesday to sign the contract and pay the deposit.

My package with Grand Copthorne Waterfront is available for transfer. So if you have a friend who's looking for wedding packages.. please feel free to contact me. The package is for 26th Dec 2009.

Planning a wedding in 56 days...

So instead of starting a new blog, I would just incorporate this in my blog becoz I can foresee myself blogging alot about my wedding... so i might as well~

Date : 18th Jan 2009 (53 days to wedding)
My sis and mom accompanied me to the bridal studio to choose my gown today. I wasn't as excited as I expected myself to be but it was definitely fun changing in and out of the gowns. There were a few designs that I liked but it came down to 2 that I prefer. They are not the traditional satin with embroidery style that are so common nowadays. I really like one of it, it was simple and elegant... almost princessy but the gown didnt really compliment me much as the bottom makes me look abit rounder. My sis and mom prefer the other one but it was abit loose on the top and therefore I wasnt able to see the full potential of the gown. Guess I will choose again during my second fitting.

As for the evening gown, it was a really quick choice. I knew in my head the colour that I want and so I just need to try on gowns of that specific colour. I'm sure I will like it more after they amend it to my size.

Second fitting will be on 2/2/09 and our wedding shots will be taken on 5/2/09.

We went to the geomancer and ask him if we could still carry on with our wedding as planned.

He threw us a super big bomb. We only had 2 options.

1) Get married 2 years later which is year 2011 or,

2) Get married within 100 days! He gave us 2 dates.
13/3/2009(fri) or 24/2/2009(tues).

There goes my perfect wedding date.. sobz~

After checking with hotels and bridal shop, it is possible to get everything ready in 2 months and wed on 13/3/09.

I do feel that 2 months is super tied to get everything ready. Imagine having to choose my gowns, take the wedding photos, get the album done, give out invitations, inform the church, collect my wedding cert and everything in 2 months? Its crazy and going to be super stressful~!

His mom and sisters are all encouraging us to wed in march since we already have available hotel and bridal packages.

So now I'm faced with a huge dilemma~ Do I want to get married within 2 months or to wait 2 years?

I have no idea~ Don't ask me yet~

Matt's grandma passed away on 3rd January. She was admitted to hospital on christmas day due to some infection on her back. As she had diabetes, these kinda infections are not small issues.

While she was in the hospital, she was looking very healthy and almost ready to be discharged. On the morning of 3rd Jan, matt's aunt visited her and even fed her lunch. And at 3plus, we received a call from the hospital, telling us to all go down to the hospital course grandma wasnt feeling too good.

So all of us rushed down and realised that his grandma's heartbeat had already stopped. Apparently, she passed on in her sleep. And the next five days, we were busy with her wake and funeral.

It was her wish for matt and me to go through a church wedding, but sadly she can't be physically there to attend it now. Of cos, we still go through a church wedding to fulfill her wish.

She's had a good life and I'm sure she is somewhere in heaven watching over the Lim family.

They won!
And they definitely deserve it after all the hardwork they have put in.

I also put in effort by being the Number 1 FAN and the leader of the FAN club haha~ We had a little fan club going on.

We made everyone wear either black or red. My sis paid for the materials for the banners while I made them with some help from the rest of the gals. Nicole and Jacq bought all the stuff that made a hell lot of noise during the dinner.

We definitely enjoyed cheering for the STARS~ Everyone helped in blowing whistles, cheering and holding up the banners while the STARS performed.

I was kinda disappointed when they awarded the 最佳人气奖 to another contestant. We thought we were the loudest of them all! For a second, Me and Weicai looked at each other with super puzzling expressions. But then I realised, that means there's chance for them to be in the top 3. And indeed, they emerged CHAMPION!

My facebook is bombarded with loads of photos and videos of the event. I feel happy when logging into facebook nowadays haha~ It brings back memories of the same event last year.

A year has past just like tat, and I don't feel like I have made the fullest out of this year. It just went past very quietly.

I hope year 2009 will be abit more colourful~

Just attended our first smarky's wedding dinner on sunday night at Conrad. Enjoyed chatting and suan-ing each other at the table haha~ And I sort of can imagine the same's gonna happen for my wedding dinner too.

Throughout the dinner, I was taking little notes in my brain... The whole time I was thinking... 'If it was my wedding, I would...." Crazy crazy me~

I liked the way the dishes were separated into little dishes for individuals. That would be nice if not everyone at the table knows each other. But this took time off from the servers and prevented them from refilling our drinks.

There's one thing that I am always very particular about and that is having an empty glass during the toasting. It will be super embarassing to be holding an empty glass and saying YUM SENG but not being to even sip something out of the glass.

During the dinner, I realised that the MC plays a very very important part in the wedding. Its their responsibility to create the ambience or environment of the whole event. If you have a joker as MC, that would be nice as it lightens up the solemn mood. But how much he/she can joke is the key. Funny is ok. Cheesy / crappy is not!

But if you have a MC that reads from the script and nothing more, then it becomes a really boring evening. If I really have to choose between the two... Oh man~ I cant decide~

I have done MC-ing for 2 weddings and I can't say that I belong to the joker category. I usually leave that to the guy and just go along with the flow. But that will only work well if I know the guy beforehand, where I could predict the kind of jokes he would crack.

Anyway, I've been asked to be the MC for my good friend's wedding coming early december. I hope I will be able to find a balance between funny and boring. One thing that worries me now is that I do not who I'm partnering with. Gosh~

Went to DESARU on friday morning and back on saturday night. Cant say that I had a great time but also cant say that I didnt enjoy myself. It was more like a weekend getaway with lotsa walking, lotsa seafood and lotsa babysitting~ haha

This is the view of sea from where we stayed, SEBANA COVE. Its a nice golf resort, very quiet, and nothing much to do here except swimming with the babies.

Thats the pool with the bridge separating the pool and the sea.

this is the view from our room.. theres a pond where guests can fish from... i thought it was kinda lame though...

We went to the ostrich farm.. this is a baby ostrich just hatched~

This is a male ostrich.. male ones have darker coloured feathers. And this one is apparently from africa... worth RM20,000~~~

Theres alot of ostrich there.. from babies to adult ones. There used to be one where adults could ride on but it passed away.

This ostrich here is shedding feathers... they go through this process every 9 months... looks like plucked chicken hahhaha~

These are a couple of ostrich eggs.. we could actually stand on it and they won't break! I tried and it felt like standing on rocks~

We also went to the crocodile farm that was kinda boring. Waste of time and money hahah~ but alrite for me, cos i've never been to our local crocodile farm.

We went to the beach too.. Just for like 5 mins and it started to rain~ sianzz...

Anyway, the best part of the trip was the food. Yummy~ Pictures to induce drooling hahhah

Some pictures I took at my workplace. Just the gardens as requested by Cheryl. She doesn't believe that we have alot of greenary over here!!!

There is 2 main buildings at my place. One is old building which has been conserved. Another one is a new building that was constructed about 7 yrs ago. These 2 pictures below is the landscaping found in from of the old building.

Below are the gardens in between the two buildings. Left and right Wing.

This is the main garden in front of the new building. I love this garden. It has a water feature with KOIs in it. Plus they have alot of cool structures and statues in all the gardens.

Thats not all, we still have roof gardens on Level 2, 3 and 6. I havent finished taking photos. There's also a bamboo landscape beside the old building.

2nd day at work.. Been abit boring becoz theres nothing much to do yet.

DAY 1
Took a cab to work becoz I have no idea which bus stop I am supposed to alight.
Reached office at 8.30am sharp.
Met up with the admin who reports to work at 8am during the fasting month.
The rest of the office slowly walks in at around 9am.

Let me introduce my new colleagues~
There's Mr Lai, my immediate superior who is the manager.
First impression : Looks kinda young, probably early 30's, doesn't look like the fierce and strict type. Should be okie

Then there's Soh, the technical engineer.
First impression : The HAIR~ er... how shud I decribe. Example those centre parting ones are 5-5. he is a 9-1.. looks super funny lor but of cos I don't dare to laugh lah.

Then theres Erica, another technical engineer.
First Impression : She reminds me of CHERYL~ Bubbly character but serious at work. Er.. plump plump cute cute.

Admin's name is Ahdar
First Impression : Sounds very nice on the phone. But speaks rather slow haha
Okie thats about all my colleagues and there a total of 6 technicians over here.

So when Mr Lai walked in, he asked me to his desk and sort of chit chat to know more about my previous work experiences. Briefed me abit on the building history and I was sent back to my desk reading the mechanical systems manual...

SUPER SIANZZ~
I nearly fell asleep on several occasions. Luckily, Soh was nice enough to walk me around the building. Then Soh drove us all out to lunch. It seems that this is the everyday routine, as there is nothing to eat nearby.

6pm sharp left. Took a ride from Soh to the bus stop. Took bus to dhoby ghaut mrt stn, then took NEL, then bus again back home. Tiring man~

DAY 2
Took bus to NEL, NEL to dhoby ghaut then bus to MFA where I have to walk up a super long slope before reaching the building. Took me slighly over an hour. This is shorter than what I expected. I was late, reached at 8.45am and as usual the rest starts walking in at 9am.

Mr Lai called for meeting among us. I was assigned to some services finally~ No more reading of manuals. I will be incharged of Pest Control, Cleaning, Lifts and Central Vacuum. Then Mr Lai walked me around the building, pointing out places where I have to prioritise. Walked one round, back to office again.

~Cheryl.. ur expertise will be much appreciated, I will be bugging u if i have any problems haha~

After lunch, Soh handed over Pest Control and CV to me. Walked me around the building again. This time showed me more of the stuff that I need to know. Its interesting to me coz I have never handed this kinda stuff before.

I'm kinda glad that I won't be incharge of building and plumbing works anymore. I'm so sick of them after so many years. Life in MFA sounds so much easier than army camps. I'm glad I got this job as I will be able to learn more things~

My journey in BAS2008 has ended with me going into Revival Round and not qualifying for the finals. I was down with a super bad flu and therefore I did not perform as well as I could. Was kinda sad but anyway, I'm still going to genting~!

That's because... DOUGLAS AND GABRIEL are in the finals for the group category~!

Happy! This time round, I can go up to genting and enjoy myself rather than being so busy with rehearsals and stuff the previous time.

Douglas is the person who signed me up for my first singing competition. Thanks for introducing the thrills of competitions into my life.

I got into the semis for the solo category. I didn't perform to my best this time. I was kinda nervous on stage which makes me wonder why. It might be the new venue that affected me abit. But overall, I'm still glad the I qualify for the semis. At least there is still something to look forward to. My semis will be held on 2nd Sept. Got to crack my brains to choose a good song again.

Someone actually asked me if I wanted to get to the finals. I did ask myself that question too. I can't really answer that. I really liked the experience I had a Genting, though it was a really tiring process. But if I really have the chance to go Genting, I will definitely go give it my best and enjoy myself again.

Me, Doug and Gab went for another competition held at West Coast CC last sunday. Its my first time competing in a CC. There were lotsa really experienced and seasoned contestants. We were having a good time watching the performances by those veterans who sang hokkien and cantonese songs.

All of us qualifed for the finals which will be held on 20th Sept at Ulu Pandan CC. Let's hope at least one of us can get into the top 10 and win some money. haha~

Today is the quarter-finals for BAS group category.
We only managed to practice last night. Hope its good enough to qualify for semis.

I hope I won't laugh in my partner's face while singing tonight.
I hope his voice won't crack from all the coughing.

It still feels kinda weird coz it will be the first time performing a duet in public.

I realised I sound kinda inconfident after reading what I have just typed.
Maybe its the song choice, maybe its my high notes, maybe its my harmonising,
Or maybe its just me~ the inconfidence me...

Its really time to find a new job. Manager is leaving and therefore I shall leave too. I do not want to waste any more of my time in the army sector. I really want to branch out to the commercial or even retail sector.

I even took the time to update up resume until "SAKI SAKI". Hope this will help me find a new job soon.

I've already sent out my applications and received a few phonecalls. Most of the agencies are looking for QS but I have told them that I prefer to go into property management instead.

I have managed to secure 2 interviews for next week. One of them is with my current client company but of a totally different department. I'm still wondering if I should go for it because I don't know if this will affect my relationship with my current boss. The current company has been okay to me but I really want to get out of the army sector so badly.

Well, I guess I will still go for the interview and see how it goes from there.

Anyone who have lobang for property management positions, please do recommend me.

The singing sessions all went rather well. Could have been better. I now realised the most important thing that I lack is stage presence. I can't seem to make passerbys be interested in my singing. I should really improve on that.

Attended Alan's wedding last thursday. We havent really been in contact ever since I left SMM which is over 3 years ago. I was abit reluctant to attend initially but in the end, I decided to treat it as a gathering. I was glad I went as I got to catch up with Cheryl, Vincent and Goh. We used to hang out very often for coffee back in PLAB. But I was kinda sad that all of us did not get to sit together.

Cheryl did ask my why I was so dressed up. hahaha~ Of coz have to mah... I purposedly went home and changed. I can't possibly show up in jeans right? If that's the case, I might as well went straight after work. Another reason is that I seldom get to wear my dresses, so I will try to grab all chances to make my money worthwhile.

So, the next time any of you guys see me in dress, don't ask my why. I'm still a gal after all mah...

The auditions went rather well especially when you see familiar faces in the judging room. I sang only 3 lines lor!!! hahaha crazy...

I'm supposed to be memorising lyrics for the upcoming event performance. 4 songs!!~~ How to remember so much lyrics!!!??? Die die must remember...

Oh, I hurt my back again. Its one stupid sneeze again. I was telling douglas about it and this is what he replied me...

Must cultivate habit to sneeze out of your mouth (abit loud la), don’t keep the pressure. Very dangerous.

And always keep your head up before sneezing. And don’t slouch. Tighten your stomach muscle abit before sneeze.

Try to maintain upright posture, never bend down your neck too much, as that will channel the burst down your spine.

A sneeze is only a 1sec thing, where got time to so much??? haha

But what he said is very true. He's a 'pioneer' of back problems and therefore I should really take his advice.

The auditions for BAS 08 are starting soon. Our Solo auditions are tomorrow and I hope we will not be facing much problems. As for our group auditions, it will be a week later.

Regarding LWSSOM's performance, I have confirmed the 4 songs that I'll be performing. I have never perform any of the songs before and I'm really excited about it because they are all my favourite songs!

Mandarin song should be no problem for me, but english songs... oh no, how how how?? What songs to choose?

The only english songs I sing are those of Stephanie Sun's. I can't possibly sing so many of her songs as I'm planning to sing '奔' as my fast number choice.

Hmm.. any suggestions? Not to difficult ones hor... my english not to powderful...

I'm thinking of Silent all These Years and maybe Ironic by Alanis Morissette. Are they appropriate?

Be A Star 2008 is here again and guess what? I'm going to be part of it again... haha

Cannot blame me lah, there isn't much excitement in my life and therefore singing competitions do add some spice to my life.

This time round, they brought back the group category. Initially, I wasn't very keen to join the competition but in the end, I decided to dragged Weicai along for the group category. I do find abit of chemistry between us and the most important thing is... Mr Weicai here does not get stage-frights and is super confident. I hope we can do well and I'm targeting the SEMIS.

Last night, we were at KTV to register and choose songs for the competition. Douglas and Gabriel are joining the group catergory too. Them and Nicole are also joining the Solo category.

Itchy-backside me couldn't resist it and decided to join the Solo category too. haha So many kakis joined, I also must join in the fun mah...

So, its $50 down the drain this time...

Well, $50 for some spice in my life, I think its very worth it.

So its back to practicing and remembering lyrics once again... Bless me!

I'm back from HK!! Had a great time eating and shopping and gambling in Macau, Zhuhai and HK.

Gambling was cool in Macau becoz all of us won money!! haha... other than that, I cant recall much from the trip haha

Shopping was great for matt's sis and mom at Zhuhai but not me. Couldnt find anything of my liking over there... But the seafood dinner was superb!!! Thats the best seafood meal I've ever taken!!!

HK was full of good food! Of cos, Disneyland was the most memorable of all! Guess why???

Forgot to mention the funniest thing that happened on sat noon...

Some of us smarkys decided to go watch Broadway Beng 3 together. So everything was confirmed and Winnie was assigned to buy the tickets. She was afraid that she might forget to bring the tickets down and therefore decided to pass them to Jane.

So, we were all supposed to meet at the venue about half an hour before showtime. I met up with Huiying and Yanru first who were already having some drinks downstairs. About 10 minutes or less, Meiyin, Winnie and Jane arrived. Yanru started to make her way towards them while me and Huiying slowly walked over. Then suddenly, I realised the 4 of them were laughing super loudly and I could see a super shocked expression on Jane's face.

I vaguely heard the conversation between Jane and Yanru...

Yanru : what u all laughing about?
Jane : How come got 3 more people here??
Yanru : ??????
Jane (pointing to the 5 tickets in her hands) : I only got 5 tickets here leh!!!

bahahahahahahahaha... should have taken a video of what happpened...

So we found out that Winnie only bought 5 tickets!!!! And the best thing is, she turned over to me and told me that she thought I was not joining them for the show!!!!! FAINTZZZZ...

So in the end, we sped up to the entrance and tried to check for leftover tickets but unfortunately, they were all sold out. Well, no fate lah.. First I missed Dim Sum Dollies with them and now this. In the end, they proceeded to the show while I went over to Bugis Junction to hang out for over an hour cos we were all supposed to have dinner to celebrate Jane's birthday.

Anyway, I'm okay with it. Just treating it as if I've saved money since some of them didn't find the show worthwhile. Save money more important... hehe

Well, its not anyone's fault lah.. just some miscommunication only... I won't take this to heart. No one wanted this to happen anyway... But it was sure funny hahahaa

So many happy things to share...

1) MAN UTD is in the Champions League Finals!!! So happy! But was kinda sad that Liverpool lost to Chelsea. So its Man U and Chelsea once again and this time round, Man U better win!!! hehe

2) Ting won! Yippee! Was super happy for her and she definitely deserved it! And she sang my favourite A-mei song! Kenneth did well too! One of his best performance ever!

3) I had a superb time at Lunar last night. We were there around 8.45pm and the guys got free flow of housepour till 9.30pm. And of cos, Weicai couldn't let the free flow go to waste and started to make us play 5-10. Drink until siao! Was high even before the finals started. Crazy man! Heng the free flow was until 9.30pm only, cant imagine what would have happened if the free flow was for the whole night. Guess I would most likely be camping in there hahaha

During the finals, I was screaming for Ting and I was so happy that my screams were not wasted. After that, we went outside to chit chat and chill out for awhile. Went back in after that and then the crazy stuff started... We were all crammed in the dance floor shaking our booties away haha... Havent done that for a really long time and I definitely missed doing that...

Wonder when will this crazy drinking and dancing session be happening again?

Chelsea just won the most critical match of the season. If Man Utd were to have beaten Chelsea, they would have won the title altogether.

Why the linesman have such GREAT EYESIGHT?? Really can see Carrick's unintentional handball meh? Wah Piang!! I was quite happy with a draw but the penalty changed my entire mood man! Super ANGRY!!! During the last few minutes, Man Utd had like 2 superb shots but was cleared away by Fletcher and Ashley Cole. Why they so smart?? Cannot stand somewhere else meh??? sianzz...

When will LONDON BRIDGE FALL?? come on lah... 3 years liao leh... I'll be rooting for BOLTON hahaha

Since they now have the same points, neither one can afford to make any mistakes. I really hope Man Utd can win the title!!

But still, I had a great laugh when I saw Ballack and Drogba fighting over the right to take a free kick. It was super funny! The very first time I see players of the same team quarrelling with each other.

The 'suay-est' thing happened to me on monday night.

Doug jio-ed me to ktv at around 6.30pm and of course, I couldn't reject the offer. So I happily changed, made my way down by cab and reached the ktv at around 7.45pm.

We were happily singing and then suddenly, the whole room 停电!!! Apparently, it already tripped twice even before I reached the place. My sis was saying that after the 2nd time, everything went back to normal for quite awhile.

The people there tried to reset it but failed. After they reset it, it will somehow trip again after a few minutes. So in the end, the waiter came in and asked us if we still wanted to continue singing or we can choose to leave and they will not charge us a cent. Since they were unable to get things to work, we had no choice but to leave.

So we lingered in the room for a short while, finishing up our drinks before leaving. While we were doing that, a few thoughts came through our minds...

Doug : OEI! I want my voucher back leh!

SIS : aiya... I want to sing 你是我心内的一首歌 leh...

Doug : Got lah. we sang halfway mah... I want to sing 察肩而过 lah...

But mine was the best!

ME : wah piang! Why didn't we order BEER?!?!?! FOC LEH!!!

I had a very good chilling-out friday night.

Matt, Sis and Doug came over to my place for dinner. After dinner, all of crammed ourselves onto my bed to watch the final episode of the CH8 9pm show. I'm suspecting that my bed is going to give way sooner than expected.

After dinner, Doug and sis wanted to go out and hang out with some of his frens. So, boring me decided to tag along with them while my dearest Matt went home to rest as he had to work the next day.

Matt dropped us at Sin Ming where they had a pond of prawns for people to 'fish'. We sat down, ordered some beer, chicken wings and hang out while his friend slowly turned up one by one. After finishing bout 4 bottles of beer, one of his friend mentioned KTV and all of us jumped at the idea! haha So the whole gang of us proceed to IB for a 3hr ktv session with more beer.

After singing, doug (as usual) proposed to have supper at our favourite Mutton soup prata joint. So off we went again. We took his fren's vehicle and then we came to a T-junction where all of us were not sure to go left or right.

Fren : er... left or right huh?? I forgot already..
Sista : Er... I think we should turn left, right?
Doug : wah piang! LEFT OR RIGHT??
ME : HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

When at the prate joint, Doug was telling his frens about the joint's Mutton soup being on his Best Mutton Soup List.

Doug : I tell u ah... never bluff u. Their Mutton Soup here is very good! Its ranked 5th on my list of best mutton soup I've ever tried.
ME : ya... u've only tried like... 5 mutton soup???
REST : hahahahahaha

I'm back from the movie...

I managed to keep my concentration for an hour, the next hour I was half watching and half day-dreaming. Definitely not my kind of movie. Would prefer to watch horror flicks but my dearest Matt doesnt enjoy them.

But I did learnt a bit deal from the movie. Those character which I mentioned earlier did appear in the movie except 吕步.

Some things that I learnt:
赵子龙 was the hero who saved 刘备's baby boy from getting killed by 曹操's army and went on to become one of the 5 heros of 属国.

The 5 heros were 关羽，张飞，马超，黄忠，赵云(赵子龙).

刘备's baby boy, 阿斗 grew up to be useless guy who couldn't continue his father's dream to 统一中国.

关羽's son is 关兴 who (in the movie) was always at loggerheads with 张飞's son 张苞 (reminds me of 荷包蛋.. see I told you I was day-dreaming lor).

曹樱 was 曹操’s granddaugher.

Well, I think thats all I can remember. People who are crazy about Romance of the Three Kingdoms would enjoy this movie. But sad to say, I'm not one of them. Another similar movie is in the making and Matt is talking about catching the movie when its out... Bless me...

On the way home, Matt was complaining about why he will always feel tired after watching a movie...

Matt : why do I always feel so tired after watching a movie...
